"Too many Christians are living in a house of fear and not in the house of love."
-Brennan Manning
It seems these days, people fear their neighbors rather than love them. Fear causes distance; Love draws near. If you are someone who authentically loves God and your neighbor, you may be feeling lost, sad, angry, or confused about how the church has responded to our rapidly changing world. Some of you may have left the physical building of a church recently and feel displaced.
I understand; I do too.
I left the church for a number of reasons, including spiritual abuse, but I didn’t leave God. I began to deconstruct my faith by crying out to God, searching His Word, and stripping everything down to Jesus. I knew I needed to learn about Jesus in a new way. After expository reading of the Bible, and finding others who had similar hurtful experiences, I began to experience Jesus as the mender of broken hearts, the defender of the oppressed, and the sender of God’s love, mercy, and grace.
